Abstract

This work focuses on the commissioning and QA of treatment planning system (ARTS 3D TPS) and it is carried out at clinical and Oncology hospital, Menofia University. The main aim of the work is the verification and validation process of the commissioning data for the TPS of Advanced Radiation Therapy Systems in three dimensions (ARTS 3D) that is used to determine the radiotherapy treatment plane. The commissioning data were measured for 6MV linac (Varian 600C). A comparison between the calculated percentage depth dose generated by ARTS 3D TPS and the experimental measurements that entered the system for open and Wedged square filed sizes of sides 5, 10, 15, 20, and 30cm was undertaken and discussed . For open square fields the maximum and minimum percentage differences don?ts exceed + 0.99% and 1.00% respectively, which are in compliance with the published tolerances (+ 2%). For wedged square fields, the maximum and minimum percentage difference don?t exceed +1.62% and 1.99% respectively, which are in compliance with the published tolerances (+3%) . A comparison between the calculated and measured isodose curves of lines 95, 90, 80 , 70 , 60 and 50% for the open square fields of sizes (5x5, 10, 15x15, 20x20, 30x30 cm2), and wedged square fields of sizes (5x5, 10, 15x15, 20x20cm2) was undertaken and discussed. The maximum spatial difference was 2mm. The study includes the radiological filed widths for computed and measured data. The results were incompliance with the suggested tolerance (+2mm). It also includes the radiological wedge angles for computed and measured date . The maximum difference was about 3o.
