Abstract All kinds of rubber have shortcomings in one or more properties. To develop their properties there are two ways, synthesizing a new rubber with new chemical structure or blending different types of rubbers having different properties to obtain rubber blend with desirable properties. In the present work three different types of rubber were selected and blended with NBR. These three types are BR, IIR and BIIR, which differ from each other in their susceptibility towards gcsradiation. The change in mechanical properties, (TS, M and Eb), physicochemical properties (swelling number, soluble fraction) and thermal properties of these blends under the effects of gcsradiation were followed up.Contribution of HAF carbon black is reinforcing and affecting the properties of the blends were considered. from all results obtained, appreciable upgrading of properties of vulcanized NBR/BR blends has been attained. A great improvement has been observed in the mechanical properties in presence of HAF carbon black as reinforcing agent. |
