Abstract The present work investigates the generation and radiation of second harmonics by s - polarized electromagnetic waves obliquely incident on a narrow inhomogeneous, isotropic plasma layer. The wavelengthe of the incident waves are considerably greater than the width of the plasma layer. Amplitudes of the radiated waves have been calculated. It is shown that, in general, the second harmonic is radiated both forward (in the direction of a transmitted wave at the basic frequency) and backward (in the direction of propagation of a reflected wave at the basic frequency). |
