Abstract The aim of this work was to study the kind composition and periodicity of the epiphytons growing on the surface of five selected macrohydrophytes during their life cycle, to offer a wide spectrum about the relation between the epiphytic algal communities and the hydrophytes. The study was conducted at three stations along three main water supplies namely : Damietta branch of the River Nile, Faraskur irrigation canal and Gedilah drain, in which five macrohydrophytes were recorded: ceratophyllum demersum and potamogeton crispus growing in Damietta branch of the River Nile, Pistia stratiotes, Nymphaea lotus and Potamogeton crispus were collected from Faraskur irrigation canal, while sampling of lemna gibba from Gedilah drain. |
