Abstract The objective of the present study was to investigate some correlative metabolic changes in germinating castor beans in relation to germination period and light factor. Several germination experiments were carried out in the dark and only in the last experiment that the influence of light was examined. Progressive continuous increase in water content occurred concurrently with a steady decline in dry matter. Breakdown of oils in castor beans germinated in the dark ocurred in essentially the same way as in the light. |
