Abstract

In this work, a mixing reactor was used to test the efficiency of the new method to separate CO2 from N2 and H2 near and at the supercritical conditions of carbon dioxide. The top and bottom streams were analyzed using a gas chromatograph to check the purity of each stream. In addition, the ASPEN HYSYS program was utilized to study the feasibility of the new process. The study was performed at 15, 25, and 38 oC. Results showed that a temperature of 38 oC and pressure of 120 - 140 bar are the best conditions. In addition, the feasibility study showed that the suggested method greatly reduced the CAPEX and OPEX compared to the traditional solvent extraction method.
