Abstract The prevalence of traction alopecia in female students at preparatory and secondary schools in Minia, Upper Egypt, is 28%; it increases with age and is strongly associated with relaxed hair. Excessive hair styling leads to hair loss. It’s important to educate young women about the dangers of excessive style, which can lead to hair loss. We believed it was appropriate to conduct health education studies, include hair and scalp examinations in school screening programs, refer students with traction alopecia to dermatologists, and raise student awareness due to the high prevalence of traction alopecia in order to improve the quality of life of the students in the research region and increase the rates of early diagnosis and treatment. |
