Abstract

The purpose of this prospective study was to assess efficacy and safety of single c arm percutaneous transpedicular spine fixation technique in treatment of thoracolumbar vertebral fractures not requiring canal decompression.
This research included a total of thirty patients. These patients varied in age from 13 to 66 years, with (50%) males and (50%) females. AO class A2 accounted for (6.7%), AO class A3 was the most common class (50%) and AO class A4 came in second in terms of prevalence (40%). All the patients did not show neurological deficits either pre- or postoperatively.
According to the medical history, 90% of cases did not have any comorbid conditions at the time of surgery.
Cases were evaluated according to Learch and Wiesner score. The accuracy of screw placement was estimated to be (97.3%), (1.35%) was the percentage of significantly malpositioned screws in the Medial axial direction, (0.9%) was the percentage for the lateral axial direction, and (0.4%) was the percentage for the caudal direction. There were no significantly malpositioned screws in the cranial nor in the anterior axial direction. Cases were also evaluated according to blood loss estimates and the mean blood loss was approximately 200 ml.
