Abstract

SUMMARY
O
rganizational climate is a is a relatively enduring quality of the internal environment of an organization that is experienced by its members, influences their behavior, and can be described in terms of the values of a particular set of characteristics or attributes of the organization”. Organizational climate as the shared perception of the way things is around here. It is important to realize that from these two approaches, there is no ”best” approach and they actually have a great deal of overlap (Abdullah, 2018).
Organizational climate became necessary to integrate the climate research into the broader field of organizational studies, and focused on distinguishing climate from similar topics such as satisfaction and organizational structure. In addition, researchers reached consensus about the approaches to studying organizational climate distinguishing between psychological climate and organizational climate. However, owing to the growing influence of the culture perspective, climate researchers became preoccupied with understanding how climates are formed (Fatima et al., 2019).
The aim of this study is to assess the relationship between organizational climate and occupational safety among staff nurses through: identifying organizational climate from staff nurses view point, assessing level of occupational safety among staff nurses, finding out relationship between organizational climate and occupational safety among staff nurse. The research question was what is the relationship between organizational climate and occupational safety among staff nurses?
The study was conducted at Nasser Institute Hospital affiliated to the Ministry of Health using descriptive correlational research design.
A convenient sample of the available staff nurses (270 staff nurse). Data for this study was collected using tow tools namely organizational climate questionnaire, and occupational safety questionnaire.
The present study revealed the following main results:
• Three-quarters of the staff nurses were aged between 30-40 years old, and female (70.4%-71.1%). While the majority (84.8%) of nursing staff were married.
• more one-thirds (35.2%) of them were technical Institute of nursing and less than two-thirds of them (61.9%) were between 10-20 years of experiences in nursing. Also
• There was a highly significant statistical positive predictor from gender, educational qualification, and attended training courses in nursing at (P = <0.01).
• There was a significant statistical positive predictor from years of experience in nursing (P = <0.05). Also, there was a significant statistical negative predictor from years of total occupational safety (P = <0.05).
• There was a highly significant negative correlation between Total nursing staffs’ organizational climate levels, Total occupational safety levels (P= < 0.01).
• There was highly significant positive correlation matrix of nursing staff of occupational safety dimensions’ scores (P= < 0.01).
• There were highly statistically significant relations between staff nurses’ occupational safety levels and age, gender, educational qualification, marital status, years of experience in nursing, and attended training courses in nursing (P= < 0.01).
Conclusion
The current study concluded that, There was a highly significant statistical positive predictor from gender, gender, educational qualification, and attended training courses in nursing at (P = <0.01). Also, there was a significant statistical positive predictor from years of experience in nursing (P = <0.05). There was a highly significant statistical positive predictor from gender, gender, educational qualification, and attended training courses in nursing at (P = <0.01). Also, there was a significant statistical positive predictor from years of experience in nursing (P = <0.05).
Recommendation
• Assessment of organizational climate for staff nurses periodically.
• Providing sufficient training program for staff nurse about organizational climate and safety
• Monitoring organizational climate to ensure suitable safe working environment.
• Reviewing organizational rules, policies and procedures to improve organizational safety among staff nurses.
• Hospital should encourage participation a governmental health institution and academic sector to do further researches focusing on occupational safety among staff nurses.
