Abstract This work was carried out on diagnosed cases of pulmonary tuberculosis treatment failure during the period from January (2006) to December (2011) at Abbasia Chest Hospital. The study included a total number of 245 patients. They were (183) males and ( 62) females with an age range from 7 to 79 years, with a mean age(38.6 ±13.4) to study the different patterns and characteristics of those patients. Patients included in this study were diagnosed retrospectively as treatment failure cases according to WHO (2003) definition. All patients were studied as regard: Full history taking including history of previous anti-tuberculous treatment; number of treatment courses, regularity in the treatment (regular and irregular) and if patient continued in the treatment or defaulted and type of treatment (CAT1 or CAT2). |
