Abstract The rapid technological developments in the production field and quality control have affected the nature and requirements of mass production, which lead to the emergence of various industrial products and the evolution of the markets concept to transform from local markets to global markets. These markets have fierce competition and every production enterprise tries to dominate the market through getting the largest possible percentage of sales, which make these institutions seek to find competitive advantages for their products through competing in quality, price, or services…. etc. That leads to the emergence of methodologies that organize the design and production process to obtain the highest possible quality at the lowest cost. One of the methedologies that achieved a remarkable distinction in this regard is six sigma. It is a set of procedures or mechanisms that are applied on each element or stage of design and production in order to reach or approach zero defects. Also taking advantage of six sigma methodology in avoiding errors and repairing defects to obtain the required quality levels and provide the mechanisms of metal furniture designer to avoid the mistakes he is likely to encounter during the design process, as well as during the processes that the product goes through in a coherent and interconnected methodology to improve the quality of metal furniture product especially the office furniture. In addition to fixing the problems and obstacles that appear during the implementation and production processes, and declaring the impact of applying the six-sigma mechanisms as one of the important inputs in improving the quality of the economic value and competitiveness of the product and putting solutions for the production losses of the metal furniture product. This research presents the following: 1- The quality inputs and their relation to six sigma. 2- The beneficial factors from applying six sigma on the metal furniture user. 3- The origin, definition and goals of six sigma. 4- The principles, standards and requirements of six sigma and the organizational structure and the hexagonal ladder of this methodology. 5- The basic principles and application criteria of six sigma on the metal furniture and the main requirements for its application in the local administrative furniture production establishments. 6- Reducing changes, deviations and defects from the user specifications of the metal furniture product and its impact on improving its quality. 7- Reducing the error already produced in the production of metal furniture and that expected to occur in the metal furniture product and trying to prevent it. |
