Abstract During the course of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, cardiovascular manifestations have been recognized as an important complication among patients hospitalized with the disease. Arrhythmias have been reported to occur in hospitalized patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. So, this cross section analytic study was carried out to estimate the incidence and risk factors of cardiac arrhythmias in COVID-19 patients. This study included 60 patients presenting to the emergency department diagnosed with COVID-19 with or without cardiac arrhythmia, patients with COVID-19 by CT (CORAD 4 OR 5) or positive PCR test, adults more than 15 years old, and patients with past history of COVID-19 infection within a month ago confirmed with CT (CORAD 4 OR 5) or positive PCR test presenting to the emergency department. Excluded patients having arrhythmias and other COVID-19 complications such as (cerebrovascular injury, diabetic ketoacidosis, deep venous thrombosis, acute kidney injury, acute limb ischemia), patients who are known to have cardiac arrythmias, or patients with a history of congenital heart disease. Data was collected from all subjects through 1) full history taking from the patient or his/her relatives, including personal history, present history, and past history. 2) Clinical examination: all the patients were evaluated by the primary survey (ABCDE). 3) Laboratory investigations: (CBC, coagulation profile and D-Dimer, biochemical tests (CK, CK-MB, LDH, serum ferritin, serum sodium, serum |
