Abstract Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is highly contagious infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Corona viruses have become the major pathogens of emerging respiratory disease outbreaks which cause from common cold to acute severe respiratory illness and become a cause of death. The prognosis of COVID-19 is largely dependent on various factors that include the patient’s age, the severity of illness at presentation, pre-existing comorbidities, laboratory and image findings, response to treatment. The present study aimed to assess of the relation of clinical and laboratory findings in predicting COVID19 severity patients and their outcomes. Accordingly, our study included group of PCR positive for COVID 19 patients admitted at Suez Canal University Teaching Hospital. We revealed that: • Old age patients had significantly association with severity of the disease and higher rate of death (p=<0.001). • Patients with COVID-19 had significantly lower levels of white blood cells (WBC)(17.2%), low lymphocytes count <20 % which had low percentage of 5-10 % (42.2% ) . • Patients with COVID-19 had significantly higher levels of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR)(93%), alanine aminotransferase (ALT)(40.6%), and D-dimer (65.8%) and CRP levels were elevated in patients with a fatal form of COVID-19. • Patients with COVID-19 who had chest affection more than 75% on Chest CT (p=<0.001) had severe form of disease and increase the rate of death. • Patients with COVID 19 who were hypoxemic(p=<0.045) , intubated (p=<0.045) were associated with increased severity and |
