Abstract Abstract Infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) variant strains cause a major problem in the Egyptian poultry industry. Genetic mutations has been occurred during replication of coronaviruses including Infectious bronchitis. Serotypic and/or genotypic classification of IBV is mainly based on the S1 subunit of Spike (S) gene. In the present study, tracheal samples of broiler flocks were collected from El-Bihara governorate. Samples collected from birds of high mortalities and suspected to be infected by IBV. The collected samples were assayed for the presence of IBV using RT-PCR assay. The obtained results showed that the isolated strain was closely related to the previously isolated Egyptian strains of IBV. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that it is belonging to IBV IS/1494/06 . The results reports the association of the isolated IBV strain IS/1494/06 – like with mortalities in broiler chicken. This study addressed the importance of molecular characterization to study the evolution of IBV strains in nature. |
