Abstract Purpose: The aim of this study is to assess the efficacy of standardized addition of corticosteroids in management of cases of hyperemesis gravidarum at Mansoura university hospital. Materials and methods This study was carried out on 50 patients with hyperemesis gravidarum divided into corticosteroid group 25 patient received 40 mg of hydrocortisone iv every 12 h for 48 h then prednisolone tablet 5mg every 12h for 5 days. And non corticosteroid group 25 patient received the traditional regimen for management of hyperemesis gravidarum. Results: corticosteroids wewe effective in reducing severity of vomiting afterr48 hour and reducing rate of admission and increase quality of life. Conclusions: study revealed that corticosteroids were highly effective in management of hyperemesis gravidarum. |
