Abstract Acute pancreatitis is one of the most common hospitalization diagnoses in the Gastroenterology Departments, and its incidence has been reported increasing. The course of acute pancreatitis is mostly self-limiting, and the patients could recover within several days. However, about 20% of the patients will eventually develop into severe acute pancreatitis, accompanied by systemic inflammatory response syndrome and persistent multiple organ failure, and the mortality rate is as high as 30% to 50%. |
