Abstract

Silver nanoparticles are small objects with size less than 100 nm, can be synthesized by three different methods which are chemical, physical and biological method but the best method is the biological one by using bacteria, fungi and plant extract. Fungi are better than bacteria in bio-synthetic process as they are easily handled, can be produced in bulk form, and produce extracellular enzymes. In this study, five fungal species were screened for synthesis of silver nanoparticles and three of them were found to be the best which are Fusarium oxysporum, Aspergillus flavus and Trichoderma asperellum. Fungal biomass was obtained by culturing the three fungal species discs in PDA medium under aerobic condition for three days at 25 ºC, then the fungal filtrate obtained by filtration was treated with silver ion source as (AgNo3) and left for 72 h, incubation under dark condition. The nano-silver synthesis was confirmed by visual observation, cell free filtrate treated with silver ions were visually changed to brown color after three days of incubation when comparing it with the control (cell free filtrate without silver ions).Characterization of bio-synthesized silver nanoparticles, optimizing factors for maximum production and studying the applications of the produced silver nanoparticles in some agricultural and medical fields.
