Abstract The basic objective of the thesis is to establish a fire ventilation simulator for underground mines which can be used to develop emergency ventilation systems, analyse the strength and shortcomings of various types of emergency ventilation methods, determine the most effective ventilation method and select appropriate escape routes to minimize injury to people and property. The fire simulator consists of four modules: network analysis for predicting the airflows in regular cases and after the outbreak of a fire, temperature distribution, pressure imbalance resulting from heat energy and fire gases concentration distribution. The developed simulator has been applied to Maghara coal mine as a case study |
