Abstract

This thesis focuses on current problems and developments in two common problems where biomechanics and numerical structural analysis in particular, could be useful: Designing prosthesis of maxilla in the presence or absence of framework with implants and designing external fixator and complete pelvis for fracture of pelvis type C1. For the first area the aim of this study was to evaluate the biomechanical behavior of masticatory load stress distribution on a maxillary all - on - four TM implant and bone using a finite element analysis. Particular attention was paid to the influence a titanium framework reinforcement within the prosthesis had on stress distribution. Three dimensional models of a maxilla were constructed on the basis of CT images and included: cortical and spongious bone, a resin denture, four titanium implants and a titanium framework. A total of six different dentures were developed with varying thickness, three had a metal framework and three did not. Three loading conditions were taken into consideration: A vertical force of 200 N, applied on the most distal part of the prosthesis, a vertical force of 500 N, applied on the most distal part of the prosthesis and a vertical force of 200 N, applied in correspondence of one of the central incisors
