Abstract

High levels of fetuin A and chemerin correlate with hepatic steatosis and regional adiposity in general population. The association between hepatic steatosis and fetuin A / chemerin levels in RTRs(renal transplant recipients) remains unclear. Estimate serum Fetuin A and Chemerinlevels in RTRs (renal transplant recipients) who have hepatic steatosiscompared to patients under HD (hemodialysis). Also to explore the relationships between fetuin A, chemerin, hepatic steatosis and regional adiposity in HDpatients and in RTRs. 87 subjects were included, 44 RTRs and 43 on HD all subjected to history taking for clinical data, assessment of central obesity and regional adiposity, assessment of hepatic steatosis using abdominal U / S, Measurements of serum fetuin A and chemerin concentration using ELISA kits. Fetuin A level in HD and RTRs groups with hepatic steatosis was significantly higher than those without hepatic steatosis (P = 0.004 and P < 0.001 respectevly). Fetuin A level positively correlated with regional adiposity (P = 0.021) and hepatic steatosis grade (P = 0.017) in RTRs. Fetuin A decreased in HD patients compared to RTRs P < 0.001
