Abstract The purpose of this study was to evaluate the shear bond strength of repaired ceramic after different surface treatments using a newly introduced composite resin. Using pressable technique twenty four ceramic discs were constructed. Twenty four wax discs of the desired dimensions were applied to specially designed Teflon mould for standardization of dimension (7mm diameter 3 mm thickness). Then wax discs were invested, pressed in the Empress furnace to form All - ceramic core samples (IPS e.max Press). Another twenty four discs were constructed (using the same specially designed mould) to fabricate the All - ceramic veneering samples (IPS e. max Ceram) by the Layering technique. Samples then were subdivided into 4 subgroups according to the ceramic surface treatment. Nano-hybrid composite resin discs (5mm diameter 3 mm thickness) were fabricated over the treated ceramic discs using specially designed Teflon mould. Shear bond strength test was carried out using computerized universal testing machine. Surface topography of the samples was analyzed using scanning electron microscope and mode of failure was also analyze |
