Abstract Propolis is a promising natural product with many dental applications. The Aim of the study was to evaluate qualitatively and quantitatively some physical properties of glass ionomer after the addition of propolis. Materials and Methods: Two groups of specimens have been made, the control group was conventional glass ionomer restorative material (Medifil, PROMEDICA, Germany). Second group was conventional glass ionomer containing ethanolic extract of propolis (EEP). The setting time was measured using an indenter of mass 400 gm and diameter 1 mm. For measuring water sorption and solubility, 20 specimens (20x1.5mm) were prepared. Specimens were suspended in bottle containing 50 ml of distilled water for 1 week. After 1 week, the specimens were removed from the bottle and weighed (m2). Specimens were dehydrated in incubator at 37{u00B0}C for 24 hours and were reweighed (m3) |
