Abstract Patients: This is a retrospective descriptive analysis involving all patients with primary malignant tumors of the stomach who underwent curative resection at National Cancer Institute (NCI), Cairo University, at the department of surgical oncology over a period of 5 years from January 2016 to December 2020. Methods: Criteria of patients with the operative details as type of surgery, type of reconstruction were analyzed. Early and late postoperative complications and pathology of the cases were investigated. Results: our study included 106 patients, 67 males and 39 females and The median age was 56,5 years old ranging from 21 to 83 year. The most common pathological types were adenocarcinoma (78, 3%) and GIST (21, 7%), 83 cases were adenocarcinoma and 23 cases were GIST. Surgical resection was done for all patients, 50 patients underwent distal gastrectomy, 29 patients underwent total gastrectomy, 17 case underwent sleeve gastrectomy and 10 cases underwent proximal gastrectomy.52 cases underwent reconstruction by roux en y method (59.1%), 37 cases underwent reconstruction by billroth II method (34.9%) and 17 cases underwent reconstruction by primary closure method (16%). |
