Abstract Two types of hybrid vehicles are analyzed: pre- and post-transmission configurations. A model of the drivetrain dynamics has been developed. Two optimal strategies have been developed. The first strategy aims to improve fuel economy and electric efficiency. The second strategy considers the same objectives of the first strategy, and improvement in battery life. Genetic algorithm has been adopted to solve the formulated optimal power management problems, hence generate optimal polices for each drivetrain. The results for the strategies and drivetrains have been analyzed through different drive cycles. The results showed improvement in battery life and an advantage in battery performance in case |
