Abstract Abstract Helicobacter pylori has a great public health importance and zoonotic link between human and animals. The aim of recent work has many directions; evaluation of Helicobacter pylori stool antigen lateral flow immunochromatographic assay (HpSA-LFIA) using 16srRNA PCR as standard test. Isolation and characterization of Helicobacter spp. isolates from gastric biopsies and autopsies from dyspeptic human patients and dogs and cats. 16srRNA sequencing from isolates for confirmation and alignments on the Genebank. Quantitative antibiotic sensitivity using E-test against clarithromycin. The obtained results revealed that the HpSA-LFIA has low specificity (59.51%) and acceptable sensitivity (91.89%). Ten isolates were obtained from gastric biopsies and autopsies confirmed by 16srRNA and sequencing. All strains were clarithromycin resistant by E-test. There is a public health point between the animal and human in Helicobacter infection, So, Hygienic measures and control protocols should be established to protect the human from uptake the infection from companion animals and vice versa |
