Abstract Deaf and mute adolescents suffer from social isolation and low quality of life due to speech and language delays, communication problems, peer rejection ,lack close relationship and societal discrimination. Aim: To investigate the impact of the intervention program on social isolation and quality of life of deaf and mute adolescents . Methods: A randomized controlled trial (RCT) was utilized in this study.Sample: A purposive sample consisted of 50 deaf and mute adolescents. The study was conducted at El Amal deaf and mute school (preparatory and secondary school) at El Sayeda Zeinab region (for female). There were three tools for data collection: Demographic data sheet ,quality of life scale and psychosocial compatibility scale. The results: The study showed that there was a significant difference between quality of life sale and psychosocial compatibility Scale results for the study group before and after implementing the program than the control group.Conclusion: the study concluded that, the intervention program proved a significant on improving the quality of life and psychosocial compatibility of deaf and mute adolescents.. This study recommended that the presence of an interpreter of sign language in all psychiatric clinics to decrease their mental health problems. |
