Abstract Here, we review the empirical and computational aspects to consider in studies of the molecular microbiomes and the role that bioinformatics plays in data analysis. Bioinformatics is defined as the application of tools of computation and analysis to the capture and interpretation of biological data. It is an interdisciplinary field, which harnesses computer science, mathematics, physics, and biology. A relationship between plants and their microbes shows that plants host individual and diverse microbial communities essential to their survival. Molecular analysis of plant samples entails the application of early preparatory steps that also take into account the undesirable sources of information, such as soil, plant organelles, human DNA, and other sources of contamination. |
