Abstract COVID-19 disease was announced as a pandemic on March 11 ,2020. Patients with certain underlying comorbidities are at a higher risk of progressing to severe COVID-19, unhealthy lifestyle is a risk factor that needed further study. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to to find the impact of healthy lifestyle on severity & duration of COVID 19 infection among health care workers at KasrAlainy Hospitals. Materials & Methods: It is aretrospective cohort study during which 330 participants were interviewed. The collected data comprised sociodemographic data, lifestyle habits, physical activity, medical history, COVID-19-related symptoms, COVID 19 severity indicators (clinical, laboratory &radiological), The participants were asked to fill Rapid Eating & Activity Assessment (REAP) questionnaire & Post Functional Status Scale (PCFS). Results: This study showed that there was a relation between healthy lifestyle & need for hospitalization among health care workers at KasrAlainy Hospitals; as participants who adopted a healthier lifestyle including nutrition & physical activity experienced less severe form of COVID 19 infection .About (7.8%) of cases who had grade ≤52 which indicates less healthy life style needed hospitalization versus only (2.5%) of those with score grade >52 which indicates more healthy life style with p value (0.029) . On the other side There was no relation between healthy lifestyle &duration of COVID 19 infection. Conclusion: Healthy lifestyle affects the severity of COVID 19 infection but did not affect the duration according to our study results. |
