Abstract Finite element method is used to evaluate the seismic effect on rock tunnels in different rock conditions and with variable tunnel sizes. A case study was used as a pivot case for the rational of generalization to aid in static and seismic design. Quasi-static and Full-scale seismic approaches were considered. The results were compared with analytical solutions and lining stiffness effect was examined. Parametric analyses were introduced. A generalized static and seismic design recommendations of rock tunnels was developed. |
