Abstract Tibial fractures in the skeletally immature patients are frequent and can usually be treated without surgery by closed reduction and casting during 6 or 8 weeks. Elastic stable intramedullary nailing is a method of diaphyseal fracture osteosynthesis in children and adolescents. It is commonly used in femoral shaft fractures, but much less so for tibial fractures. We studied the results TENS vs casting of tibial fracture in children from 6 Years till 12 Years divided into 16 patient in each group A and B with is a total of 32 patients. They were followed up for an average of 6 months. We used the same technique in all patients, 2 nails were used in all cases and all patients in group A weren’t casted postoperatively, out of the 16 patients Only one patients had surgical site infection, while 2 patients had difference in limb length after surgery with 0.5 cm difference. As well, misalignment was reported in 12 patients with mean degree of misalignment 3.8 ± SD 1.7 º which was graded excellent according to Flynn’s scoring system. However we passed through a learning curve during performing this study, with most of the complications occurring in the early cases |
