Abstract The term “non-melanoma skin cancer” (NMSC) has been used to define basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the skin. Surgical excision with a safety margin is the most effective treatment option for most NMSCs. The determination of tumor margins is very important in the surgical planning of cutaneous cancers to avoid incomplete excision and the need for re-intervention, and to prevent functional and aesthetic defects, especially in tumors that commonly involve the head and neck, face, and sun-exposed regions. |
