Abstract The present experimental work was carried out at the Poultry Research Laboratory belonging to Animal and Fish Production Department, Faculty of Agriculture (Saba Basha), Alexandria University and at laboratory of Livestock department, Arid Lands Cultivation Research Institute (ALCRI) at the city of scientific research and technological applications, Egypt. This study was undertaken during the summer season during the period from April 2016 to September 2016. 1. The first experiment (Laying period): The study finds out the effects of two types of seaweeds (biological untreated and treated green and brown) on performance, egg production, egg quality, lipids profile in egg yolk, blood hematological indices and percentages of hatchability and fertility. A total number of 252 (168 females and 84 males) at 11 weeks’ old were used (hens selected based on egg production more than 75 % after a one-week pretest period). Quail were weighed individually, randomly distributed into seven experimental groups in a completely randomized design, each group contained 36 birds (24 hens and 12 males); each one was further subdivided into three replicates with 12 birds (8 hens and 4 males). Each experimental group received one of the following dietary treatments through the laying period from 11 to 22 weeks of age. |
