Abstract

The present study is designed to fill a research gap in investigating the relationship between visual functions like vision acuity including crowding acuity, stereoacuity, contrast sensitivity and suppression in amblyopic children and observe the changes in these visual functions during and after conventional treatment with patching or penalisation.
In conclusion, we found good agreement in our study between Vac-Man acuity and LogMar visual acuity. We have also demonstrated the importance of crowding visual acuity testing which serve as a sensitive tool in amblyopia monitoring.
With regards to suppression, both subjective and objective measurements were not significantly changed after conventional amblyopia treatment.
Contrast sensitivity function using a quick gamified software was able to differentiate between degrees of amblyopia.
Our cohort of patients showed fair adherence rate with treatment (patching and atropine) when assessed by objective measurement.
