Abstract In the present work, the thermal behavior of gears working in a certain speed and loading was studied using a special test rig. The results were compared with the traditional gear material results. This research is interested in studying polymer gears and greases and their characteristics to be exploited in Industrial. In this work different types of failures existing in gears are discussed. The results show that gears which are reinforced with carbon nanotubes have a better thermal behavior. In addition to the usage of the carbon nanotubes reinforced grease gives the best thermal properties That the addition of CNTs to the gear material and the grease improves thermal behavior by (22.22 %, 9.92 %, 16.94 %, and 17.74 %) for the spur gear, bevel gear, helical gear, and worm gear respectively |
