Abstract
This research aimed to evaluate a newly marketed single-file instrument, Wave One Gold in terms of apical extrusion of debris and postoperative pain compared with Protaper Universal. Patients{u2019} medical and dental history was collected before dental examination using the patient assessment chart of the endodontic department. Preoperative pain was assessed using Verbal rating scale (VRS). All eligible subjects were preoperatively examined radiographically and randomly assigned to two groups. Wave One Gold was used in one group and Protaper Universal was used in the other group according to the manufacturer{u2019}s instructions. Local anesthesia with 2% mepivacaine with adrenaline 1:100000 were administered followed by isolation with rubber dam. The canal shaping of the root canals were done with the ProTaper Universal system in one group and Wave One Gold in the other group according to the manufacturers{u2019} instructions. The root canals were abundantly irrigated with 2.0 ml of 2.5 % sodium hypochlorite after each instrument exchange. All teeth received the same amount of irrigating solution and the root canals will be irrigated with 17 % EDTA prior to obturation. Root canals were dried and obturated by lateral compaction technique. Upon completion of the obturation, temporary sealing with glass ionomer cement
