Abstract Hepatic hemangiomas are not only the most common benign liver lesion but also the most common overall primary hepatic tumors, with an incidence up to 20% of the total population. Hepatic metastases are the most common malignancy of the liver. A focal solid liver lesion is more likely to represent a metastatic tumor than a primary liver malignancy. The presence of liver metastasis significantly affects the clinical decision-making and patients’ prognosis. MRI is frequently used as a problem-solving technique for liver lesions as it has better contrast resolution and does not use ionizing radiations. DWI is integrated into the routine liver imaging protocol. DWI plays an emerging role for the assessment of focal and diffuse liver diseases. This study aims to differentiate between hepatic hemangioma and metastasis (1-4 lesions in number) by diffusion weighted MRI in patient with primary malignancy. This study was conducted during the period from November 2019 to May 2022. Fifty cases were included; patients referred from general surgical department &Oncology Centre Mansoura University (OCMU) with clinical or radiological proven to have primary malignant tumour with hepatic focal lesions (1-4 in number) suspected to be hepatic hemangioma or metastases. |
