Abstract The study was focused on the concurrent elimination of methylene blue (MB), Safranin-O (Saf-O) dyes, and a mixture them from aqueous solution by adsorption onto the developed magnetite/sliver nanocomposite (magnetite/Ag). The nanosilver prepared by the reduction of sliver nitrate by sodium citrate. The nanocomposite was then prepared by co-precipitation method in the presence of nanosilver. The magnetite/Ag nanocomposite characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and FT-IR spectroscopy. Adsorption kinetics, isotherms, and thermodynamic parameters of methylene blue, Saf-O dyes and a mixture of both dyes from aqueous solution investigated. The effect of initial dye concentration, nanocomposite dose, pH, temperature, contact time, and salt, on the adsorption capacity was also evaluated. |
