Abstract

Aim of the study: In vivo study was conducted to compare the effect of two different denture base materials (conventional heat cure acrylic resin and metal reinforced polyamide) on the chewing efficiency of the mandibular complete denture. Materials and methods: Thirty eight patients with completely edentulous maxilla were randomly selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, primary impressions were made using irreversible hydrocolloid, secondary impressions were made using green stick compound as a border molding material and Zinc oxide/eugenol as a final wash impression material then the master casts were duplicated using duplicating silicone, group I (conventional heat cure acrylic resin). group II (metal reinforced polyamide dentures) construction of the metal framework. The design of the framework was done then traced on the refractory cast followed by spruing, investing, burning out and casting of the metal framework with the casted metal posts attached to it. In a special flask designed for injection-molding technique, dewaxing was carried by placing flasks in boiling water for 3 to 5 minutes to soften the wax.) were processed in boiling water for 20 minutes, each group received the dentures; then chewing efficiency was measured using Sieve device
