Abstract The study was conducted to investigate the effect of an enrichment programme based on extensive reading on developing critical reading and writing skills among EFL students of the basic stage in Jordan. The participants in the present study comprised (56) ninth grade school students chosen from Abu Ll Qasim school in Zarqa- Jordan. They were assigned to an experimental group (N = 26) and a control group (N = 26). The instruments were a pre-post critical reading test to measure students` critical treading skills and a pre-post writing test to measure students` writing skills ,there was also a rubric of the critical reading and writing skills. Results revealed that there were statistically significant differences in critical reading and writing scores in favor to the experimental group |
