Abstract The acute toxicity of breynia disticha J. R. Forts and G. Forts and phllanthus acidus skeels successive extract showed safety of oral administration to 2g/kg. The successive methanolic and 70% aqueous methanolic extract showed antioxidant activity indicating that the most promising activity was detected in the polar fractions. Upon studying the polar fraction of breynia distichaJ. R. forts and G. forts and phyllanthus acidus skeels showed significant hepatoprotective activity. Pathological results revealed that Breynia distichaJ. R. forts and G. forts and phyllanthus acidus skeels polar fractions are capable of repairing hepatic tissue and reduced toxic effect of CCL4.The results of the anti-inflammatory activity revealed that the dichlromethane extract of both plants showed potent significant anti-inflammatory activity more than indomethacin used. However the results of the analgesic activity of both plants revealed that the dichloromethane fraction of Phyllanthus acidus Skeels decreases the number of writhing more than the other fractions and in case of Breynia disticha J. R. Forts and G. Forts the petroleum ether fraction decreases the number of writhing more than indomethacin used. Investigation of the lipoidal matter of bioactive petroleum ether fraction of aerial parts of Breynia disticha J. R. forst and G. forst and phyllanthus acidus skeels revealed the presence of saponifiable and unsaponifiable matter |
