Abstract Malnutrition is both a cause and a consequence of ill-health It is surprisingly common all over the world, especially among older people and those with any long-term medical or psycho-social problems such individuals are chronically underweight and are vulnerable to acute illness, The gastrointestinal tract is the most effective way to feed the patient, if the patient is unable to meet his nutritional needs via oral route, then enteral nutrition therapy via tube feeding should be considered especially in the presence of a partially functioning gut. Patients receiving enteral nutrition should be closely monitored, to enable daily estimation of nutrition requirements, maintenance of metabolic balance, detection of toxicity/deficiency states, and early detection of complications. This Research aims to comprehend and compare current knowledge regarding the clinical application of enteral tube feeding, together with associated complications and special aspects of the process, its significance, indication and contraindication |
