Abstract The aim of the current study to evaluate the validity of Modified Lip Repositioning in the correction of the excessive gingival display. Patients were chosen to participate in this study suffered from an increase in the gingival display (2-4 mm) maximum 5mm. Patients and methodsTwelve patients selected; all of the included patients were female with a mean age of 26.87±4.35 years. Eleven of twelve included patients (91.7%) were normal and one (8.3%) was with Cholecystectomy. The procedure was safe and done with local anesthesia in the outpatient’s clinic after took the preoperative measurements that include a gingival display and lip length in addition to the patient’s satisfaction. Two strips of the mucosa were removed and the frenum was kept intact to achieve midline and to prevent relapse. At the early stage of follow-up, the main complaints of patients where the feeling of tension in the upper lip and circumoral area, mild pain which was managed with analgesics, edema in the perioral area while in all patients edema was moderate and disappeared within 7 days postoperatively. No dehiscence or infection was reported in any of the patients.The clinical outcome measure parameters were assessed at baseline, and then again at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months postoperatively.
