Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the process/product learning strategy in developing some EFL writing skills for the second grade students in Salah Al Din Secondary School. The study had a pre-post experimental control group design. The sample of the study comprised (76) second grade secondary school students. They were randomly assigned to experimental group (N=37) and control group (N=39).The study included a pre-post test based on a checklist verifying the writing skills. Both groups were pre and post tested using EFL writing skill test. Sample of the experimental group were instructed by the researcher herself using the process/product oriented learning strategy whereas, the control group received the regular EFL curriculum based on the product learning. After the experiment was conducted, a t-test was used for analyzing the data obtained from the administration of the instruments. Scores obtained by the experimental and control group were compared. Findings of the study revealed a significant evidence for the effectiveness of using the process/product oriented strategy in developing students’ writing performance. Furthermore, the study highlighted the advantages of using the strategy in developingwriting skills. Discussion of these findings, recommendations, and suggestions for further studies are presented
