Abstract In a search for new anticancer candidates with improved profiles and selective properties and encouraged by the marked cytotoxic activity exhibited by some natural and synthetic furochromones and benzofurans against various malignant cell types, it deemed of interest to synthesize and investigate the potential anticancer and anti-p38Ü MAPK activities of some new furochromone and benzofuran derivatives. Thus, in this study, thirty-two new furochromone derivatives and eleven new benzofuran derivatives were synthesized through simple synthetic procedures. Some of the prepared known and all of the new furochromones and eleven benzofurans were screened for their in vitro cytotoxicity and their in vitro anti- p38Ü MAPK. In addition, some representative compounds were selected for cell cycle analysis and apoptosis detection through the induction of caspases -9 and -3. Furthermore, the tested compounds were investigated for their p38Ü MAPK binding properties through molecular docking studies |
