Abstract Background: Behçet’s disease (BD) is a chronic multisystemic vasculitic disease with unknown pathogenesis. Soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR), a potential new biomarker, is a soluble form of membrane-bound receptors secreted from different immune cells. The Aim of the present study is to investigate plasma suPAR levels in Behçet’s disease and their correlation with disease activity.Patients and Methods: Fifty Adult Behçet’s disease patients determined according to the BD International Study group criteria for Behçet’s disease diagnosis and Fourty Adult healthy subjects were included in the present study. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was employed to obtain quantitative data. Data of both groups were statistically analyzed. Results: The suPAR level was not statistically different between the Behçet{u2019}s disease patients and controls. For Behçet{u2019}s patients mean was of 0.2±0.5ng/mL compared to a mean of 0.3±0.4ng/mL for controls. P value was 0.413.This cross-sectional study showed that suPAR does not have any significant relation with disease activity in BD patients |
