Abstract

Chrom ID carba smart (bioMerieux, lyon, France), designed specifically for the screening of carbapenemase producers, has a sensitivity of 91-100% and a specificity of 76-97% (Quinonero and Martínez, 2017). Carba smart agar is a biplate gathering both chrom ID Carba agar and chrom ID OXA-48 in one plate for better identification of CP-CRE. chromID OXA-48 has been shown to identify class D CPE (Girlish et al., 2013). It is the only selective medium for identification of class D OXA-48 with very accurate sensitivity and specificity (Zarakolu et al., 2015). Modified carbapenem inactivation method (mCIM) is a new simple test recommended by CLSI. This method demonstrated sensitivity >99% and specificity >99% for detection of most carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae including OXA-type carbapenemases
