Abstract

Objective: The aim of our study is to diagnose the congenital heart diseases early, so decrease morbidity and mortality that result from delayed diagnosis Methods: This study was conducted over a 6 months interval from January 2017 to July 2017 in the governmental hospitals in Dakahlia Government where it included 1610 live births who born during this period. 30 cases were diagnosed as CHD and were born this period. Diagnosis of the patients was based on careful history taking, detailed clinical examinations and specific investigations Results: CHD represented as 1.86% (15 per 1000 live births), the most common CHD was ASD represented as 16.7%. ASD is the most common CHD representing 16.7% of all cases of CHD in Dakahlia Governorate. The most common district with CHD is AL Mansoura. There is no significant statistical relation between CHD and consanguinity as positive consanguinity was in5 cases 16.7% of CHD. There is non-significant statistical relation between maternal disease and CHD. Also, there is no significant relation between maternal medication and CHD. Also, there is no significant statistical relation between CHD and maternal age. Regarding mode of delivery 22 CHD case were delivered by CS (73.3%) 8 were delivered by NVD (26.7%) preterm cases were 8 (26.7%) and full-term cases were 22 (73.3%)
