Abstract Introduction: charcot Ankle is one of the most challenging diseases.Using ilizarov to make arthrodesis is satisfactory option.The aim of this study is to assess the results ofankle arthrodesis using ilizarov technique and demonstrating its versatility in cases with poor bone stock or infection at the region of ankle joint. Hypothesis: charcot Ankle arthropathy can be effectively arthrodesed by using ilizarov. Materials and methods: Between January 2013 and January 2016, 20 patients with age ranged from 41 to 65 years with a mean of 57.60± 6.29 SD years with charcot arthropathy of the Ankle. All patients were presented by deformity and inability of walking. All patients were treated by Ilizarov technique for Ankle arthrodesis. Post-operative assessment was done according to AOFAS score. Patients were instructed for non-weight bearing and follow up for every 2weeks for 8 to 12 weeks with average of 10.2 weeks.Removal of the Ilizarov frameand then a below-knee plaster cast was applied for another 6 to 8weeks (average7.7 weeks).Follow up of all patients every 3 months for 2 years |
