المستخلص In this study, the researcher aims to to identify the advantages and availability of the ingredients for the transition to using the Resource Description and Access Standard (RDA) in the Library of the Kuwait National Commission for (UNESCO) instead of the Anglo-American Cataloging Rules (AACR2), and the required changes to be introduced in the library’s automated system, and the impact on the search and retrieval processes, the study relied on the field descriptive approach, and the researcher used personal interviews, observation, checklist in addition to the questionnaire as tools for data collection, and the random sample consisted of (167) beneficiaries, with a rate of (29%) of the number of visitors to the library. The researcher concluded from this study that the library’s automated system has been able, due to its reliance on (MARC21); To accommodate bibliographic records without specific limits for the length of the record, and given that the (RDA) standard is characterized by flexibility and expansion in the recording of data sources standard in the automated catalog of the Kuwait National Commission Library, this has had a significant impact on the quality of search and retrieval results from the automated catalog. |
