The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of designing a program based on 2English for Specific Purposes3 to Enhance Scientific Literacy for Students applying to Medical Faculties. A Quasi-experimental study was conducted including two random samples, the first of (20) EFL third public secondary students (9 males and 11 females) applying to faculties of medicine in Cairo and Alexandria University. The second of (64) students attending their first year in the same faculties. Four instruments were used a Needs Analysis survey, a pre-posttest on scientific literacy, a questionnaire of attitude towards medical sciences, and a Rubric. The materials include the ESP Program Framework. All the instruments and materials were carried on the first group of participants (N=20) except the Needs Analysis survey which has been carried on the second group of participants (N=64). The researcher used the T-Test paired group design data analysis using SPSS. The findings of the study showed a remarkable improvement upon participants regarding the scientific literacy dimensions. Procedural Scientific Literacy came first with an effect size of (2.07), then Functional Scientific Literacy with an effect size of (1.82), then Multidimensional Scientific Literacy with an effect size of (1.40), and lastly Nominal Scientific Literacy with an effect size of (1.17).
